近幾十年來西北太平洋及其邊緣海環流研究得到國家和海洋學界的高度重視，並取得了一系列重要成果。隨著海洋科學技術的發展，這些成果對將這一領域的研究引向深入以及對其他相關領域研究的滲透愈來愈顯珍貴。本次出版的《西北太平洋及其邊緣海環流》第四卷（修訂版），收錄了袁耀初等作者發表時間自1980年至2021年的論文數十篇，這些論文大部分發表在 主流SCI期刊上。這一系列研究成果有助於從事海洋研究的學者和學生 加全面、深入地瞭解西北太平洋環流及其邊緣海環流，為其在未來海洋科學研究領域創新與發現提供幫助；並對海洋環境及資源開發與利用起到積極作用。

作者簡介
袁耀初，1937年11月生，浙江寧波人。1960年北京大學數學力學系力學專業畢業；1960-1964年在北京大學數學力學系力學專業從事教育X-作；1964-1973年在國防科委從事物理力學研究；1973年調入 海洋局第二海洋研究所，現任 海洋局第二海洋研究所二級研究員，博士生導師，從事物理海洋學研究。自20世紀80年代以來，袁耀初主持和參加 自然科學重點、面上和重大 合作基金項目11項，主持和參加 海洋局、 攻關及 重點基礎發展規劃”973”項目、科學技術部基礎和重大 合作項目等項目13項，綜合上述項目總共24項，深入開展了西北太平洋環流及其邊緣海環流研究，發表論著200餘篇。研究內容概括為以下幾個方面：黑潮研究（自源地至日本以南海域）；琉球群島以東西邊界流及深層流研究；黃、東海海域環流；黃、東海海域”入海氣旋爆發性發展過程的海氣相互作用”調查研究；南海環流變異及其與太平洋水相互作用；菲律賓以東海域環流等；自1977年以來，成功地提出和發展與實際觀測結果相一致的10種海洋環流數值研究模式，應用於不同海域。1979年獲浙江省 工作者稱號，1986年獲 海洋局在”六五”期間雙文明建設中 海洋工作者稱號，1992年起享受 政府特殊津貼，1995年獲 海洋局科技進步一等獎，1996年獲 科技進步二等獎，1996年獲 海洋局科技進步二等獎，1997年獲 海洋局科技進步獎，1997年獲” 海洋局雙百人才工程”海洋科學研究類 梯隊首批人選，2005年獲海洋局海洋創新成果二等獎。曾任 大地測量與地球物理學聯合會（IUGG）中國委員會委員，1991年至2013年任 太平洋與亞洲邊緣海研究委員會執行委員（The Pacific-Asian Marginal Seas（PAMS）Steering Committee Member）。
