《全新版大學英語》系列教材醞釀于上世紀末,誕生於新世紀初。
《全新版大學英語》系列教材依據現代外語教學理念,運用多媒體、網路等現代教育技術,立足本國,博採眾長,完全自主編寫而成,是一套集紙質教材(學生用書、教師手冊、教學輔助用書等)、多媒體課件(助學光碟、電子教案、題庫等)和網路學習系統之大成的立體化教材。
教材的編寫宗旨是:遵循外語教學的客觀規律,滿足我國當代大學生學習的實際需求,既適用於課堂教學又便於學生上機上網自主學習,既有利於鞏固語言基礎又能更好地培養學生較強的英語綜合應用能力,尤其是聽說能力,使他們在今後學習、工作和社會交往中能用英語有效地進行口頭和書面的信息交流。
教材按照《大學英語課程教學要求》編寫,供大學英語課程的一般要求和較高要求層次的教學使用。
教材編寫的指導方針是:充分汲取我國在外語教學中長期積累起來的行之有效的經驗和方法,詳盡分析、研究中國學生在英語學習過程中以及在跨文化交際中經常產生的問題,學習、借鑒國外的教學理論和方法並根據我國的教學需要和現有條件加以消化、改造、吸收,自行規劃、設計,自行選材、編寫。為此,本教材採用了集中外多種教學法之長的折中主義(eclecticism)教學理念。教材的編寫原則是:
1 倡導基於課堂教學+計算機/網路的新型教學模式。教學中多媒體和網路技術的引進,既可改善語言教學環境和教學手段,又便於學生個性化學習和語言操練,有助於師生之間的溝通。但這一模式不應一成不變,它應隨著各校、各班級的具體情況而有所不同。此外,在利用現代信息技術的同時,應充分發揮傳統課堂教學的優勢,使之相輔相成。
2 提倡學生自主學習,同時主張充分發揮教師的主導作用。教師能否組織好教學——包括課堂教學和計算機輔助學習——是教學成敗的關鍵。除了課堂教學,教師更應加強課外輔導,應指導學生掌握正確的學習方法和學習策略。
3 在加強聽、說的同時,充分兼顧對學生讀、寫、譯等應用能力的培養。使學生能較好地掌握英語的書面語,這不僅是大學英語課程本身的性質使然,更是我國多數大學生今後學習、工作的需要。而學生的外語學習,特別是說、寫方面的實踐活動,必須以讀、聽一定量的語言素材輸入為前提。因此,必須通過課堂內外、網上網下、大班小班、自學面授等一系列互動互補的教學環節,才能全面提高學生的聽、說、讀、寫、譯的應用能力。
4 選用當代英語的常見語體或文體的典型樣本作為素材。選文語言規範,富有文采、引人入勝、給人以啟迪;題材廣泛,以反映現實生活為主,科普內容亦佔有一定比重;體裁多樣;語體兼顧書面語和口語。
5 充分考慮對學生的文化素質培養和國際文化知識的傳授。大學英語課程不僅是一門語言基礎課程,也是拓寬知識、了解世界文化的素質教育課程,兼有工具性和人文性。因此,教材在文化背景介紹和知識拓展方面也有相應的板塊設計。
6 主幹教程——《綜合教程》採用每一單元設一主題的形式。主題選自當代生活中的重大題材,以便將語言學習貫穿在了解、思考、探討現實生活中的各種問題的過程中,充分體現交際法的教學原則。其他教程的相應單元與該主題亦有一定的呼應。
7 練習設計從有利於提高學生語言應用能力出發,針對我國學生的薄弱環節和實際需要,做到有的放矢;形式儘可能採用交互方式,如pairwork、group discussion、debate等,或採用「任務」方式(task-based approach)。
8 考慮到學生參加大學英語四、六級考試的實際需要,除了在各教程中均設有一定數量的類似四、六級考題形式的練習外,還特地在《綜合教程》中參照四、六級考卷設計了Test Yourself(2014年本書重即時,根據201
