內容簡介

本教材綜合聽說讀寫四個方面。我們認為這幾個方面原本是不可分割的一個統一體，而在教學中人為地把它們分割，造成了學生在這幾個技能方面的脫節，尤其造成了所謂的「聾子英語」、「啞巴英語」。如果認為早期的英語教學似乎還有些理由把它們分開的話，那麼到了研究生階段還這樣做，就沒有任何理由了。本教材每單元前半部分涉及聽說技能，而後半部分突出讀寫技能。這四種技能都圍繞同一主題展開，相互補充，協同提高。 本教材所選話題具有普遍性、深刻性、啟迪性和前瞻性。課文語言規範，內容豐富，文體多樣，絕大部分選自近年出版的英美報刊書籍。
