鈮微合金化技術是低合金高強度鋼生產的主要技術之一，巴西礦冶公司1979年將國際先進的Microalloy』75微合金化技術介紹到中國，40年來和中國鋼鐵行業密切合作，持續支持中國鈮微合金化技術的普及和發展，為中國低合金高強度鋼的發展和國際競爭力的提升作出了突出的貢獻。為了總結四十年來我國鈮微合金化技術的成就，進一步推動我國鋼鐵工業的高品質發展，中國中信集團有限公司和中國鋼研科技集團有限公司、中國金屬學會、中國鋼鐵工業協會、巴西礦冶公司舉辦了「中國-巴西鈮科學與技術合作四十年國際研討會」。會議特邀報告全面介紹了國內外鈮科學與技術的最新進展，將這些整理成本論文集。
